Our Vision and Values
Community Engagements and Events
At Queer Arabs Australia (QAA), we recognize the importance of coming together to celebrate, support, and uplift our unique community. Our events, held across New South Wales and Victoria, provide safe, inclusive spaces that allow queer Arabs and allies to connect over shared experiences and identities. Whether it’s a workshop, a social gathering, or a support group, each event is crafted to offer opportunities for growth, cultural exchange, and meaningful connection. By offering bilingual programming in both Arabic and English, we aim to make our gatherings accessible to all, ensuring language is never a barrier to joining in. These events are designed to nurture not only individual well-being but also the collective strength and resilience of our community, reinforcing the idea that we are strongest when we come together.
Commitment to Inclusivity
Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. At QAA, we believe in a community-led approach, where decision-making is shaped by the lived experiences of our members. We understand that the LGBTQIA+ Arab and MENA communities are rich and diverse, and we strive to make our spaces welcoming and supportive for everyone, regardless of identity, background, or experience. Our services and events are open to all — whether you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ Arab/MENA community or an ally committed to standing alongside us. We aim to create an environment where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued, fostering a sense of belonging that can be rare yet deeply essential. This commitment extends beyond events to every aspect of QAA, as we work to build a supportive network that empowers individuals to embrace their identities fully and authentically.
Looking to the Future
With a solid foundation and a clear vision for growth, QAA is dedicated to evolving with the needs of Australia’s multicultural LGBTQIA+ communities. We are excited to expand programs such as Zyara, which brings visibility to queer Arabs through storytelling, cultural exchange, and public visibility efforts. Additionally, our Queer Language Services offer crucial resources for those navigating language barriers, supporting members in expressing their identities within both personal and professional spheres. By broadening these services and more, we aim to meet the dynamic and changing needs of our community, ensuring that support is accessible for all. QAA remains committed to fostering safe spaces, developing valuable resources, and providing empowering support systems that not only meet the needs of today but also anticipate the future needs of Australia’s LGBTQIA+ Arab and MENA populations. We envision a world where all members of our community can live boldly, confidently, and in harmony with who they are — a world that we build together.
